A few clear answers.
Let’s make the technical terms a little simpler.
What is a User-Agent?
A browser identification string sent with HTTP requests. It provides browser and system hints, rather than a verified device identity, and can be changed.
What can websites see about my browser?
JavaScript can read language, timezone, screen dimensions and permitted hardware signals. These do not grant access to your files, passwords or precise location. IP information comes from the network connection.
Why can engine and vendor information differ?
The engine is the software family rendering pages; vendor is a browser-reported field. Different Chromium browsers may share an engine or the Google Inc. vendor value. iOS browsers can use a different engine, so the browser name alone is insufficient.
Why is the reported version reduced or fixed?
Browsers may reduce version and platform information to limit fingerprinting, and extensions may change it. This page displays reported information without inventing hidden details.
What are Client Hints?
Structured browser signals such as brands, major versions, mobile status and platform. Support varies; this tool does not request extra high-entropy values.
Does this tool store its results?
Tool results are generated in your browser and are not saved by this tool to a lookup database. The live site also uses Analytics and AdSense; their processing is explained on the privacy page.
